Where there were
© Tamara Beck
Where there were buildings
So familiar as to be forgotten
There are great big holes in the ground,
Waiting for cement and cranes,
And that inevitable uplift to
The city skyline so familiar
As to be anticipated

Glass Towers
I never thought I'd like it
When the brick city in which I lived
So much of my life turned into glass towers lifting
On the skyline, the side streets, rising
Transparently on the avenues
Did I think I would admire
The glass towers that rise up where once
My brick city lived?
Transparency lifting the skyline,
On side streets and avenues adds a
Refreshing lightness to my being
